“Life moves pretty fast. You don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”— Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Last week was one of those weeks. One of those weeks where there were lots of work things demanding my attention as well as many family activities. On top of that, well, COVID-19 world-wide stress.
We realized that we needed to get out and do something fun. Baseball games are for a later time. Movie theaters are not yet open. The same goes for live concerts and plays. The usual activities are not available.
Yet, in Ithaca, a small group brought drive-in movies to town for the first time in decades. We went on Friday night and watched the 1979 Cult Classic “Piranha”.
It was a beautiful summer night by the lake. We were out of the house and out of the typical routine. We supported a local small business. I discovered once again that going to the drive-in makes any movie better. I was refreshed and ready for the challenges to come.
What ideas can you take from the past to refresh your today?
Yours in the calm pursuit of excellence,
Alan Willett
