“The outward man is the swinging door; the inner man is the still hinge.”— Meister Eckhart
It was startling, unexpected, and… great.
I was rushing from one place to another thinking of the far too many things I had to accomplish.
I heard a “wooossshh.”
Looking up, I saw the hot air balloon just above our neighborhood, so close that I could hear the balloonists talking and the sound of the burner.
In that moment, I also noticed the beauty of fall. There was a strong breeze blowing away our summer while bringing in the smells and air of the autumn season.
Then the balloon disappeared behind trees traveling on to its own adventure.
It was a fleeting moment that brought to my attention the full breadth and beauty of the day.
I went slower the rest of the day and accomplished much more.
Yours in the calm pursuit of excellence,
Alan Willett
